When other Holding tank vent filters failed us in just a couple of months, we set out to design a completely new solution that not only 100% eliminated holding tank odors but would last well into a second boating season.
The kit had to come with everything needed and be very easy to install.
We also wanted the ability to easily refill this filter with our proprietary activated carbon blend saving the significant replacement cost and eliminating the plastic waste that comes with purchasing a whole new unit each season.

The Nautilus Filter™ uses a proprietary blend of Specialized Activated Carbons specifically targeting gasses (mostly H2S) and odors produced in a holding tank. With a strong background in activated carbon air filtration from earlier products developed for the US Military, we set out to really improve the performance and ease of use of these holding tank vent filters. we also intended to design the system to be able to be refilled with our special blend of activated carbons.
Nautilus Filter™ Kit comes with all the bits and pieces you need for a complete install. Included are two sets of hose barb discs, for the two most common size holding tank vent hoses (5/8" and 3/4") and if you find that you have another size, we will quickly ship it to you for free. Also included are two stainless steel hose clamps and also 316 stainless mounting screws, including extra, incase you drop one in the bilge (abyss).

Which one is right for you?
Nautilus Filter Standard or OEM model?
If you have the room to fit a standard Nautilus Filter™ this is typically the best choice, when replacing common Dometic, Sealand, SaniGard, Voker, Yacht Z Marine or Camco branded models of holding tank vent filters.
This is because the standard Nautilus FIlter™ is larger in diameter and this reduces vent air resistance to almost zero.
The conventional holding tank vent filter brands mentioned above (skinny and long) have significant resistance to air flow and this is not good especially as these do not have a built-in bypass valve to allow free air flow back into the holding tank, and this resistance can cause tank collapse during aggressive pump-outs.
Even the Nautilus Filter™ OEM model has more resistance to airflow than the Standard model but still less (better) than these common other brands. and since the OEM model has a built in bypass valve this helps to prevent the possibility of tank collapse.
Conclusion:
If you have a holding tank system that requires a direct fit replacement to Dometic, Sealand, SaniGard, Voker, Yacht Z Marine or Camco branded models, then the Nautilus Filter™ OEM model is the best choice having the highest performance available in this conventional size format with the benefit of being refillable and having a bypass valve.
If you do not have a space restriction, then our standard model Nautilus Filter™ is the best choice in the market with the highest odor removal performance and longevity, nearly zero air flow restriction, refillable and with bypass valve.

I have had other brands of these filters installed on my trawler before but they have not lasted very long. I have now upgraded to this Nautilus filter and I don't smell that holding tank smell any more and trust that it will last much longer than the previous vent filters. I really like that I can easily and cheaply refill the carbon. The unit was very easy to install and only took about 15 min. I like that it even came with marine grade 316 hose clamps and the overall quality seems excellent. I recommend this filter 100%
